Ejaculation

A new study has determined that men should ejaculate at least 21 times a month to maintain a healthy prostate.

A study by Harvard University, and published in European Urology, determined that ejaculating a minimum number of times every month is an effective means of reducing the risk of prostate cancer.

The study found that more frequent ejaculation in the absence of risky sexual behaviour could represent an important means of reducing the profound medical costs, and physical and psychological side effects of tumours. It is believed that frequent stimulation of the prostate gland reduces the chances of “intraluminal crystalloids”.

Prostate Cancer

September has been designated as prostate cancer awareness month. 1 in 8 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, making it the most common form of cancer in men. Deaths from the disease have dropped by 40% over the past 20 years. However, many men are encouraged to be checked for the disease to ensure early detection.

As men get older, the risk of prostate cancer increases. After the age of 50, the risk of the disease increase substantially. According to the Mayo Clinic, men of African descent have a higher risk of developing the illness.

Doctors attempt to detect the risk of prostate cancer in patients by examining the levels of ‘prostate-specific antigen’ in the blood. Depending on the levels, medical professionals may recommend waiting for a period and repeating the test, or carrying out a prostate biopsy.

It is always beneficial to consult with your physician and attend regular check-ups to make sure that you are in optimal health. In relation to what you can do at home, that is perhaps best left to the imagination, but studies appear to back it up.
