Condom Fit-Bit Revealed

A “smart condom” that tracks intimate data has been revealed by a British company.

British Condoms has released the first images of its £59.99 Fitbit-esque tracker, the i.Con, which fits around the base of the penis and sends sexual data to an app on the user’s smartphone.

The ring, first announced last July, is currently available for preorder on British Condoms for $74 with an unknown release date. The i.Con promises to share any of the burning questions about your sexual performance and health.

Track your Performance

The adjustable band measures number and velocity of thrusts, the total duration of “sessions”, traditional fitness tracker information like calories burned and are beta testing its tracking of positions used.

And as if that wasn’t enough, all of the data is shareable.
“Users will have the option to share their recent data with friends, or indeed the world. You will be able to anonymously access stats that you can compare with i.Con users worldwide,” the company’s website says.

The smart condom isn’t actually a condom but a wearable ring that goes over one. However, its makers claim it’s been designed for maximum comfort, and a British Condoms spokesman said the i.Con is capable of detecting chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

“There is an LED that will emit a purple light if STIs are present that we can identify,” they said.

How do you Compare?

Plus, it aims to answer that age-old question: How do I stack up at sex to everyone else around the world? Because social media isn’t competitive enough.

The ring, which will come with a one-year warranty, will have a Micro-USB charging port to provide six to eight hours of “live” usage (not clear if this means thrust usage or something else). It will work with a combination of “nano-chip and sensors,” and pair with your device via Bluetooth.

“The app and the device will use end to end encryption. If they (users) choose, they can share the information anonymously, or indeed name themselves on social media.”

With claims of 900,000 pre-registrations from all around the world, it looks like users will have a big database to compare themselves against.
