Introducing Tinder’s Feed Feature
Tinder’s new feed feature is being rolled out currently worldwide and users are not happy with the changes to the dating platform.
The dating app’s Feed section is a timeline of a user’s matches, showing any recent activity they’ve had on the app, including new photos they’ve added to their profiles and new songs they’ve included in their Spotify favourites list.
The new feed is in chronological order, beginning with the most recent changes to a profile. Users are able to comment on individual items in the feed, giving hopeful swipers an easier way of firing off the first message. The idea behind the new feature is to help users make ‘real connections’ and more ‘engaging conversation’ according to Tinder’s blog post about the change.
View Recent Matches Music Tastes and Recent Activity for the First Time
“Feed brings your matches to life by delivering a visual and interactive experience that helps you spark conversation with the people you want to meet most,” the post reads.
“It’s an exciting new way to see more of what someone is all about by giving you a true glimpse into their world—their passions, their personality, their latest adventure—all leading to better conversations and deeper connections.”
Not Everyone’s a Fan of the New Update
But many users claim the service is ‘creepy’ and allows their matches to view their personal information without their knowledge.
Twitter user Megan Lemiesz said: ‘Why did Tinder add a feed feature? I do not care when my matches that I have never spoken to upload a new photo?’
“You can send a message specific to any update by double-tapping the content,” the blog post explains.
“Whether you want to give Leilani a shout-out on her solid Boomerang skills, or let Zoe know the ‘Best. Burger. Ever.’ pic she just posted is your favourite too, and just happens to be across the street from your office.”
This might be a plus for some Tinder users to initiate that first conversation but it will still allow matches to see their recent activity even if that first message went down like a lead balloon.
